The Famine Gallery
The potato blight and a range of political, religious and socio-economic factors contributed to the famine which took place in Ireland between 1845 and 1849. Placing County Cavan within this context, the Famine gallery contains a collection of children’s shoes discovered in a local famine grave, a famine pot from Bailieborough Workhouse, a reconstruction of a famine cottage, and a model famine ship.
