Experience a truly special occasion with the performance of the works of the great Irish composer William Percy French in the style of musical theatre. The performers are not just singers; they are captivating storytellers who breathe life into all Percy’s works and perform them with great gusto.
Tish Dunleavy and Frank Cadam founded the County Leitrim Percy French Society as they realised that, despite Percy’s extensive musical repertoire, he was under-promoted and therefore, under-appreciated. The society has performed in theatres nationwide, including two sell-out shows in Dublin’s National Concert Hall. The 11 talented singers and actors perform the show in period costume. Tish Dunleavy’s brilliant and heartfelt interpretation of French’s songs and recitations shines through each performer throughout the performance. Every comic detail is manipulated and accentuated by facial expressions, dramatics and good humour. Frank Cadam takes the role of the great man himself, and along with each performer, authentically captures the spirit of French. The story of Percy is expertly woven with the songs and recitations in a lighthearted way which appeals to the audience. By the end of the show, audiences are so convinced they have been in the presence of Percy French, they queue for ‘selfies’ with the great man himself.
