About this event
‘Oh, I found a feather! What colour is the feather? What does it feel like? What does it smell like? What kind of bird might it come from? What is that bird like? What is known about that bird?? Can you mimic the sound of the bird that the feather comes from?
Poet Heather Brett and visual artist Kim Doherty will facilitate nature-based workshops outdoors and are geared toward children 7-11yrs old. Nature improves children’s psychological and physical well-being impacting learning and wellbeing, and inspiring the student on many levels. This nature-based workshop on play and discovery will engage children’s senses to explore the world around them in the context of nature and art and to explore and create a map of Art.
The children will create these maps to record their journey through nature and art using sound maps, touch boxes, visual maps and using words and poetry to describe their journey. A discussion and visual charts will be used to name some of the things they find on their walk and their attributes to that thing.
For children aged 7-11 years; 2-hour workshop 10.30 am – 12.30 pm
